The Cries of Men in Agony!

IMHO, this post is in perfect timing for a Christmas message.

I received this forward from my sister yesterday, and since then, I had wanted to write out a narrative of what I thought about the forward, but then decided against writing. It turns out, a picture can say a thousand, nay, a million words… and so here it is.

Clearly, Christmas is not just a day to celebrate the birth of Christ, but also to follow what Christ preached, “Love They Enemy"

In conjunction to the above, rightly pointed out by my sister, I got reminded by a song I learnt in school about a decade ago! Here’s my attempt at recalling the song…

The world stands in need of Liberation my Lord
It still has to feel your power

The blind and the deaf
The dumb and the maimed
All need to feel your healing touch!

The world stands in need of Liberation my Lord
It still has to learn to love

There are those who have eyes but refuse to see the inhumanity that’s done
There are those who have ears but refuse to hear the cries of men in agony

The world stands in need of Liberation my Lord
It still has to learn to love

There are those who have mouths but refuse to speak against injustice done to others
There are those who have hands but refuse to help them out

The world stands in need of Liberation my Lord
It still has to feel your power

The blind and the deaf
The dumb and the maimed
All need to feel your healing touch!

The world stands in need of Liberation my Lord
It still has to learn to love

A silent prayer going out to all those differently abled men and women!

the pics - stunned me completely. tears welled up in my eyes, looking at the humble man. not out of sadness though, but out of joy of having seen the courage & grit of the human spirit! wish i could meet that guy...

the song - am not sure what 'liberation' means, in this context. imho, i believe liberation is HERE and NOW. and i also believe, that only we can liberate ourselves, not some lord sitting in some mythical place we call 'heaven'.

but yes, i do join u in the prayer for the differently abled people. wish we were a lil more sensitive towards them...

thanks for sharing the pics - u have made me very happy.

This comment is not on this article, but on your entire blog. I quite enjoyed all the posts. Keep it up. You got a great presentation and writing skill.

@dharmabum,
You're quite right, I was moved after receiving that forwarded message too.

As for the song, its more like a plea to the current world than the Lord Himself, and nothing could be more contexual here than this song I remembered and it also happenned to be perfect Christmas message :)

I'm glad these pics lifted up your spirits!

The specially abled people don't need our pity... they don't need our support... they don't need our sympathy or empathy...

What they need is not to be differentiated and singled out. Their lives and achievements need to be celebrated.

And lord is not going to help them directly, a few of us that see the necessity for that change have to make this world a level playing field.

Kudos to the man! He doesn't look like one who has any use for sympathy; like the song aptly puts it; "the world still has to learn to love", and unconditionally at that...

i am touched by the depth of your feeling, but i feel a 'plea to the world', as you have termed it - would be futile. it would only fall on deaf ears...

world perfection can be achieved only through individual perfection. gandhiji says "u must be the change that u want to see in the world around u"...i strongly believe in it. all we can do is to keep walking on the 'path', and hoping for the best.

@ dharmabum and CM,

A word of clarity here. You're right when you said that the plea becomes futile. But if you read the song a little carefully, it isnt generating any sympathy or empathy.

It is in fact a song for all those people that are blessed with sight, sound, et al. It is about those that can see, hear, talk and feel but continue to stay unperturbed by all the terrible things that are happening aroung them.

It is a cry to the abled men and women to pay special attention to the differently abled.

The song was to awaken those people. :)
